The UEFA has announced the three nominees for its UEFA champion of the Year: Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Gianluigi Buffon. On the 24th of August at the start of the Champions League group phase we know the winner.
The UEFA award rewards the best footballer on European fields, regardless of nationality and on the basis of his achievements in national, European and international competitions.
In the jury of the trophy, which has been awarded since 2011, the 80 coaches of the clubs that participated in the Group League and the European League team have participated last season and 55 football journalists.
Messi (Barcelona) and Ronaldo (Real Madrid) won the trophy twice: Messi in 2011 and 2015, Ronaldo in 2014 and 2016. For Buffon, the election would be a prime.
